HANGZHOU, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's Yang Wenlu and Han Xuezhen clinched two Olympic boxing spots with their victories at the Hangzhou Asian Games here on Sunday.
Yang defeated Nomin-Erdene Tugsjargal of Mongolia 5-0 in the women's 60kg quarterfinal, while Han outclassed Kazakhstan's Sagyndyk Togambay in the men's 92kg semifinal, with both securing 2024 Paris Olympic Games spots.
"I didn't box well in the first round, but I managed to fight back in the second and third rounds to win. I know I'm not alone, as I get full support from everyone here," said Han.
After securing her Olympic berth, China's Wu Yu defeated Yesugen Oyuntsetseg of Mongolia to reach the women's 50kg final.
"I hope to bring home a gold medal and share it with my mother," said Wu.
"To fight in the Paris Olympics is my dream, and I will improve myself day by day to get a good result in 2024 and fulfill my dream," she added.
Also on Sunday, world champion Yang Liu outfought Hwang Hyo Sun of DPR Korea in the women's 66kg quarterfinal and fellow Chinese Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan got the better of Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu of Kyrgyzstan in the men's 80kg quarterfinal.
"My opponent had analyzed me a lot, and that's why he boxed well in the first round. But then I knew his purpose and I could fight back in the last two rounds," said Tuohetaerbieke.
Fellow Chinese Wang Xiangyang lost to Lai Chu-en of Chinese Taipei in the men's 63.5kg quarterfinal.
