"I feel really good. It was windy and my opponent played really well today," Diyas said. "I had to fight for every ball. I was trying to play aggressively and it worked."
Two seeded players advanced on Thursday but a third was eliminated.
Third-seeded Ying-Ying Duan of China rallied to beat Arina Rodionova of Australia 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5). Her quarterfinal opponent will be Su Jeong Jang of South Korea, who advanced when sixth-seeded Kurumi Nara of Japan retired with the Korean player leading 7-5, 4-0.
