The Hyatt Regency Almaty is a near new luxury hotel situated in the central business district of Almaty near the Exhibition Center, and overlooking the city and the impressive Alatau Mountain range. The hotel is 10 miles from the international airport and 6 miles from the main train station. All office buildings and tourist attractions in the city are within a 10 minute drive. The hotel is a 30 minutes drive from the Medeo Ice Skating Stadium, and 45 minutes from the Tshimbulak Ski resort, which is 2500 meters above sea level. The Circus and the National Bank are within walking distance of the hotel. The Hyatt Regency Almaty opened in 1995 and is nestled between the Alatau Mountains and the plains. There is a view of the mountains from most of the rooms. If you're looking for an international style restaurant during your stay, check out the Dshambul Restaurant. It serves a delicious lunch with a wide selection of salads, daily specials and a tempting dessert buffet. At night, the Dshambul turns into a Mediterranean Restaurant with a sumptuous buffet full of South European delights. If you wish to go upmarket there's the Grill Restaurant, a gourmet dining room for first class international and local dining a la carte, open for lunch and dinner. The place to meet your friends for a real cappuccino and some delicious home made pastries is the Yourt Lounge & Bar. In the evening have a glass of wine accompanied by live piano music. The lounge is open 24 hours every day. Then there's the Ipanema Bar & Restaurant where you can feel the rhythm and pulse of Brazil! Adorned with vivid paintings of jungle scenes, Ipanema is the place to enjoy drinks or a lite bite with friends. A DJ spins a menu of tunes from salsa to samba - guaranteed to heat up your nights. All in all a delightful deluxe hotel in the heart of Almaty in Kazakstan with excellent accommodation facilities and plenty of variety in its choices of restaurants and bars. Akbar Ebrahim of Canada stayed there and found the hotel " very classy. Excellent service all round. Lots of ammeneties. Well managed and all staff speak good english. Will return there again on my next visit!
